Vivian Demuth reading
Join us for an author reading by Alberta author Vivian Demuth on Wednesday, May 7th at 7pm at the Banff Public Library.
Ms. Demuth will read from her book Eyes of the Forest which is set in Canada's boreal forest and tells the story of the fire lookouts, tree planters, loggers and oil patch rounders in a narrative that examines ecological and ideological issues.

13th annual Banff Research Updates begins on May 8, at the Whyte Museum from 7 to 9 pm, free admission. "Water Under the Bridges: Re-connecting Aquatic Ecosystems" (Shelley Humphries, Parks Canada) and "The Mountain Legacy Project -- Repeat Photography in the Canadian Rockies" (Eric Higgs, University of Victoria). Soroptimists of Banff National Park & Canmore and CRPS invite you to register early for the 2nd Annual Girl’s and Mom’s conference Live Your Dream on May 10th at the Banff Community High School. Many relevant lifestyle topics will be covered as well as yoga and dance. Girls from Grades 7 - 11 are welcome with their moms, aunts or grandmas.

Mother's Day Tea and Breast Cancer Fundraiser Invite your mother to enjoy a free pot of special flowering Tea. Take home a tin of hand tied teaballs and 50 per cent of the profits will be donated to the Canadian Breast Cancer foundation.
The event runs from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on May 11 at 103 Banff Avenue.

Rummage and bake sale
Banff’s Rundle Memorial United Church is having its annual Rummage and Bake Sale. The 2008 sale begins Friday, May 16 from 5 to 8 p.m. and also runs Saturday, May 17 from noon to 5 p.m.
The sale is ongoing from Monday, May 19 to Saturday, May 24 from 3 to 7 p.m. As well as from Monday, May 26 to Friday, May 30 from 3 to 7 p.m.

The Mount Temple IODE will be hosting a tea and bake sale at the Banff Senior Centre on May 17 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The event is a fundraiser for the local Mount Temple IODE Chapter.

Nominations
Nominations are now being accepted for the 2008 Banff Sports Hall of Fame induction. Nomination packages can be picked up from Town of Banff Community Services at 110 Bear St. and can also be downloaded from our website at www.banffsportshf.com.
Inductees will be announced mid June and honoured at the celebratory banquet and fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 13at the Banff Park Lodge. The deadline for submission is May 30.
Rugby Training
Every Tuesday and Thursday starting at 6:30 p.m. at Banff Rec Grounds the Banff Rugby Football Club will be training for the upcoming season.
