Local extras wanted for film staring True Blood heartthrob 0
Chiselled True Blood heartthrob Ryan Kwanten is coming to the Bow Valley with the film production Sex and Sunsets.
Based on Tim Sandlin's quirky late-80s novel of the same name, Sex and Sunsets shoots in Banff, Canmore, Calgary, and Pincher Creek, bringing with it the popular Australian actor, better known as Jason Stackhouse on the hit HBO series, as well as familiar Canadian faces Catherine O'Hara and Sara Canning.
Shooting for the romantic comedy, adapted from the story of a failed writer and dishwasher who hears voices in water and meets the woman of his dreams at her wedding, runs Aug. 20 through Sept. 19 in Banff and Canmore.
Kwanten plays the lead character, Leo Palamino.
Meanwhile, the production team is looking men, women and teenagers of all ethnicities between the ages of 12-70 years old to be extras in the film.
An open casting call is being held Saturday, Aug. 11 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. a the Fenlands Recreation Centre.
Kwanten is best known for his current role of the slightly dim and sexy Stackhouse on HBO's smash hit vampire series, following stints on Australian soap opera Home and Away and American drama Summerland.
O'Hara is an SCTV alumni and star of many a feature film, including the Home Alone movies and For Your Consideration, which gained her several awards and award nominations and voices a few characters in the upcoming stop-motion animated feature film Frankenweenie.
Canning was also a regular for another popular series focused on the undead, the Vampire Diaries, a star of the feature film Black Field and is slated for the lead role of the upcoming television show Primeval: New World.
