The dangerous offender hearing for Cory Lawrence Bitternose that had been put off until Monday due to the Crown prosecutor requiring emergency surgery has been rescheduled to begin in November. The hearing will take place in Calgary, run into December and adjourn until April.

An Israeli tourist was lucky to be alive after he got trapped on the cliff face at surprise corner trying to retrieve his camera. The man had biked up Tunnel Mountain around noon on Aug. 20 and was snapping photos of the Bow Falls at surprise corner when he dropped his camera over the cliff.

Nicolette Ellis, 24, said she thought she was the only gay person in the village when she got to Banff in February. The lack of gay pride in Banff was a bit of a shock for her, especially coming from Newcastle, Australia, where she said there is an established gay scene.

The Canmore Sports Experts team had to put in an extra effort to beat Earls on a soggy, cold soccer pitch at the Banff Rec Grounds on Sunday. Sports Experts won the game 2-0. Both teams kept on top of the ball, and nobody realized just how low the thermometer had dipped as it got close to zero.
